Dar es Salaam, Tanzania - Azania Bank and Selcom have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing digital financial services and expanding access to efficient banking solutions for underserved communities.

Vinesh Davda, the Manager of Digital Banking & Alternative Channels at Azania Bank, announced the collaboration in Dar es Salaam yesterday. Through this partnership, Azania Bank customers will have access to a wide range of banking services through Selcom agents located across different parts of the country.

Davda highlighted that the alliance between Azania Bank and Selcom supports the objective of ensuring easy access to banking services and reaching the unbanked population in Tanzania. Furthermore, this collaboration is a testament to Azania Bank's commitment to keeping pace with the rapidly evolving digital technology landscape within the banking industry.

Under the partnership, Azania Bank customers will enjoy the convenience of conducting various transactions, including deposits and withdrawals, with or without a credit card. Additionally, they will have the ability to check their account balances through the designated Selcom agents. Moreover, this initiative will enable Azania Bank agents to top up balances without incurring additional costs.

The improvement of Azania Bank's digital services will empower customers to utilize credits to perform a wide range of banking transactions at various payment points without the need to physically visit bank branches. Davda further emphasized that the signing of this partnership is a significant step towards supporting the nation's efforts to promote the use of cashless payment systems in the economy.

For instance, as part of this partnership, Azania Bank customers will be able to make diverse payments using major credit cards such as UnionPay, Mastercard, and American Express in the most efficient manner.

Geofrey Mwakamyanda, the Tanzania Business Development Manager at Selcom, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, highlighting Selcom's long-standing commitment to enhancing access to banking services and promoting cashless payments in Tanzania. He stated, "For over 20 years, Selcom has worked with various financial institutions to provide agency banking services in the country, which has significantly contributed to reaching the unbanked population."

Mwakamyanda further added that this partnership will not only enable Azania Bank customers to access various banking services through the bank's agents but also provide them with easy access to other banking services at their fingertips.

The Azania Bank and Selcom partnership marks a major milestone in the financial sector's pursuit of inclusive digital financial services, fostering financial inclusion and paving the way for a more accessible and cashless economy in Tanzania.
