Bolt Launches Driver Selfie-Check Feature to Enhance Safety and Prevent Impersonation

Bolt, the globally recognized ride-hailing platform, has recently introduced a driver selfie-check feature aimed at bolstering safety measures and preventing driver impersonation and account sharing on its platform.

Bolt Country Manager, Charles Matondane, shared that this novel feature would require drivers to take a selfie each time they go online, confirming their identity and verifying that their details in the app align with the photo provided.

"Drivers will be asked to take a selfie for identity verification each time they log in to the platform. If the selfie doesn't match the driver's details already in our system, they will be temporarily blocked from providing services on the platform until we can verify their information," explained Matondane over the weekend.

This addition of the driver selfie-check feature enhances safety for all users of the Bolt platform. It allows for more thorough verification of drivers, helping prevent impersonation and deterring drivers from sharing their accounts with others.

Matondane reiterated Bolt's commitment to safety, stating, "At Bolt, the safety of our riders and drivers remains our paramount concern. We are committed to continuous innovation and the implementation of outstanding safety measures."

Over the past few years, Bolt has consistently introduced new features on its platform designed to enhance the safety and well-being of drivers, boda-boda riders, and passengers alike during a Bolt trip. With this new feature, Bolt reaffirms its dedication to making its platform safer and more secure for its users.
