CBE Launches 60th Anniversary Celebrations

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Hashil Abdallah, has officially inaugurated the 60th anniversary celebrations of the College of Business Education (CBE) at its main campus in Dar es Salaam.

In his address, Dr. Hashil praised CBE for its remarkable achievements since its founding in 1965 and highlighted the college's pivotal role in providing quality business education and developing skilled professionals.

He commended the "CBE Vision 2074," to underscored the necessity for educational institutions to devise strategies to adapt to technological advancements addressing socio-economic changes.

 

Prof. Wineaster Anderson, Chairperson of the College's Governing Board, emphasized CBE's significant progress in delivering business education, conducting research, and offering professional consultancy since its establishment by Act of Parliament No. 31 in 1965. She noted that the college has expanded its reach by opening campuses in Dodoma, Mwanza, and Mbeya. Prof. Accounting and Budgeting, ICT Security, and Asset Management.


The Principal of CBE, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, provided a historical overview of the college's accomplishments since its inauguration by the late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, in 1965. She expressed pride in CBE's four campuses in Tanzania, serving over 19,000 students with high-quality education. Prof. Lwoga noted that by 2024, CBE will offer more than 22 programs, including Business, Accounting, Marketing, Procurement and Supply, and ICT. She also introduced the "CBE Vision 2074," which focuses on sustainable development through new technologies and comprehensive research.

 

CBE was officially launched on January 21, 1965, by the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, starting with a single campus in Dar es Salaam. In 1983, the Dodoma Campus was inaugurated by Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, followed by the Mwanza Campus in 2007 to serve the Lake Zone, and the Mbeya Campus in 2013. The college continues to provide quality education to over 19,000 students across all its campuses. Programs offered range from certificates to master's degrees, available both on-campus and online. CBE remains a leader in sustainable development through its "CBE Vision 2074."

 

With the theme "60 Years of Growth, Revolution, and Excellence." The 60th anniversary celebrations will culminate on January 21, 2025, with various events commemorating CBE's achievements and its contributions to the community and the nation
