India's Pledge to Strengthen Cooperation and Enhance Water Services in Tanzania

In a remarkable display of bilateral cooperation, the government of India has promised to strengthen cooperation with Tanzania and inject a substantial sum of 1 trillion Tanzanian shillings into the water sector. Dr. Subrahmanyan Jaishankar, India's Minister of Foreign Affairs, made this significant announcement during his recent visit to inspect the Kibamba water tank, a collaborative project between the two governments.

Minister Jaishankar emphasized India's readiness to cooperate with Tanzania in improving water services, recognizing water as an essential need for every human being. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Kibamba water tank project since its construction eight years ago, which has greatly benefited the local residents.

India's Foreign Affairs Minister also commended the Tanzanian government for its efforts in enhancing access to clean water. He acknowledged that a large portion of the population now has access to improved water services and conveyed India's congratulations for this achievement.

The Tanzanian Minister for Water, Jumaa Aweso, expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its commitment to improving water services in the country. He praised the Indian government for their significant investment in the Kibamba-Kisarawe water project, which has greatly assisted the people residing in Kibamba and Kisarawe District in the Coast Region. Minister Aweso also highlighted the substantial improvement in urban and rural water services as a result of India's support.

Mr. Kiula Kingu, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of DAWASA (Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Authority), extended his congratulations to the Indian government for their substantial investments in water projects in Tanzania. He noted the successful implementation of the Kibamba-Kisarawe water project, which has provided essential services to approximately 450,000 residents.

The commitment shown by the Indian government to strengthen cooperation and invest significantly in Tanzania's water sector highlights the shared belief in the importance of clean water accessibility. Through these ambitious efforts and ongoing projects, both nations serve as an inspiring example of how international collaboration can bring about positive change and uplift communities in need. Tanzania can confidently continue its pursuit of improved water services, knowing that it has a steadfast partner in the government of India.
