Mkombozi Commercial Bank Extends Helping Hand to Hanang Mudslide Victims

In a compassionate gesture towards the victims of last December's devastating mudslide in Katesh township, the Mkombozi Commercial Bank has donated construction materials valued at 7.7 million Tanzanian Shillings. The bank, recognizing the urgent needs of those affected by the disaster, handed over the materials to aid in the reconstruction efforts following the tragic incident that claimed numerous lives and left homes in ruins.

Among the donated items are essential construction supplies such as paints, primer, solvent, red oxide, roller brushes, and hand brushes.

During the official handover ceremony on Monday, the bank's Executive Director, Respige Kimati, emphasized the institution's commitment to community support alongside its financial services. Kimati expressed gratitude to the government for its collaboration with the bank, affirming the bank's dedication to supporting governmental initiatives aimed at fostering development for citizens.

"We are pleased to deliver these items to the Office of the District Commissioner today to benefit the targeted individuals," Kimati stated. The executive director also took the opportunity to offer condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.

Hanang District Commissioner, Janeth Mayanja, expressed appreciation for the bank's generous support, noting that the donated materials would play a crucial role in enabling survivors to rebuild their homes. Approximately 108 houses are expected to commence construction within the week, while various infrastructure projects, including water, electricity, and roads, have already been completed.

"We thank Mkombozi Bank for their love and care. The Hanang District is gradually returning to normalcy, and the materials we have received today will expedite the construction of houses," said Commissioner Mayanja. She further urged the bank's management to explore ways of extending assistance to farmers and traders, thereby contributing to their economic empowerment.
