NMB Bank, one of Tanzania's leading financial institutions, marked another significant milestone in its expansion journey with the inauguration of the NMB Paje Branch. This expansion has propelled the bank's branch network to a staggering 230, reaffirming its commitment to serving over six million customers nationwide.
The grand inauguration ceremony, held in conjunction with this year's Kizimkazi Festival, was graced by the presence of Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan. This momentous event follows closely on the heels of the inauguration of NMB's 229th branch in Buhigwe, Kigoma Region, a mere 58 days ago, an indication of the bank's relentless pursuit of reaching every corner of the country. At the inauguration, President Samia was briefed by NMB's Chief Executive Officer, Ruth Zaipuna, who highlighted the crucial role of the Paje Branch in addressing the banking needs of the local community. Residents of Paje were previously compelled to embark on a lengthy 60-kilometer journey to access banking services at the nearest NMB branch in Mwanakwerekwe.
"We believe that this branch will greatly assist the residents of this area who previously had to travel approximately 60 kilometers to Mwanakwerekwe Branch to access our banking services," stated Ruth Zaipuna. She emphasized that NMB Paje would offer a comprehensive range of financial services, encompassing account opening, payments, deposits, withdrawals, insurance services, loans, and foreign currency exchange. Additionally, the branch staff will actively engage in financial education initiatives aimed at benefiting the local population, particularly fishermen, seaweed farmers, and salt producers.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan, along with other distinguished guests, including Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, the Governor of the Central Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Emmanuel Tutuba, and Minister of Finance Mwigulu Nchemba, expressed their support for NMB's commitment to enhancing financial inclusion in the region. The ceremony witnessed the participation of prominent figures such as the Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dk Tulia Ackson; Chief Secretary Ambassador Moses Kusiluka; Government Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa; and the Former Prime Minister of the Fourth Phase Government, Mizengo Pinda, among others.
NMB Paje Branch marks the third branch opening by the bank this year, following the Kwa Mrombo branch in Arusha in May and the Buhigwe branch in Kigoma in July. This strategic expansion aligns with NMB Bank's mission to provide accessible and comprehensive financial services to all Tanzanians, fostering economic growth and financial empowerment across the nation.
