Secretary-General Urges Ministry of Finance Staff to Uphold Good Governance and Law

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, has urged staff of the ministry to adhere to principles of good governance and law in the execution of their duties. This call aims to support Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, in driving economic reforms and changes in the country.

Dr. Mwamba made this appeal while opening the 37th meeting of the Ministry of Finance Employees Council held at the Bank of Tanzania hall in Dar es Salaam.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork among departments and units within the ministry and its institutions to enhance financial and asset management systems, as well as regular monitoring and inspections to ensure project quality and value for money.

"We must carry out our duties with professionalism, innovation, and integrity. It is crucial to develop training programs on academic, ethical, and workplace proficiency. These programs should consider various changes occurring in economic management, finance, planning, environment, and good governance systems," said Dr. Mwamba.

Furthermore, Dr. Mwamba acknowledged the dedication and valued contributions of each ministry and institution staff member in implementing government plans. He stressed the need to continue capacity building through short and long-term training to enhance their effectiveness and quality of work.

Speaking on the Employees Council, Dr. Mwamba described it as a vital forum for workplace discussions, established according to existing regulations to facilitate dialogue on employment issues and working conditions between employers and employees.

"We must recognize that meetings like this provide us with an opportunity to discuss and address fundamental work performance issues and improve service delivery to citizens and stakeholders. The Ministry of Finance is a crucial institution for our country's development, and thus, this is an opportunity to discuss various matters to enhance our work performance," explained Dr. Mwamba.
