Taifa Gas Company Donates Gas Cylinders to boost Clean Energy Efforts

Deputy Minister of Energy, Ms. Judith Kapinga, affirmed her commitment to overseeing the distribution of approximately 10,000 gas cylinders recently donated by Taifa Gas Company. The donation, presented to Vice President Dr. Phillip Mpango, aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s initiative to alleviate women from the burden of carrying firewood and to facilitate access to clean energy sources across the country.

Ms. Kapinga made this assurance during a meeting with senior officials from Taifa Gas Company, headed by the firm’s General Manager Mr. Devis Deogratius, at her office in Dar es Salaam. She commended the company for its contribution to the campaign and stressed the importance of involving multiple stakeholders to ensure its success nationwide.

"As a ministry, we are dedicated to reaching all deserving beneficiaries of this campaign, as envisioned by President Samia. It is encouraging to witness stakeholders like Taifa Gas joining hands with us to ensure its success. In addition to distributing these gas cylinders, we will also prioritize educating beneficiaries on clean cooking energy in every district and ward," Ms. Kapinga stated.

Furthermore, Ms. Kapinga urged Taifa Gas Company to expand the availability of gas refilling stations across the country, thereby enhancing accessibility to clean energy services for more citizens. In response, Mr. Deogratius affirmed Taifa Gas Company's commitment to collaborating with the government to promote the use of clean energy. He highlighted the company's plans to increase investments in warehouses nationwide, ensuring the safety and accessibility of clean energy.

"We recognize that the transition to clean energy will occur gradually. The key lies in implementing strategies to increase the number of clean energy users in the country, currently standing at 8%," Mr. Deogratius commented.

The campaign targets regions significantly impacted by deforestation, including the Iringa Region and others, emphasizing the importance of sustainable energy practices for environmental conservation and community well-being.
