Tanzania LPG Association Hosts Dialogue on Clean Energy Empowerment

In a landmark gathering, the Tanzania LPG Association (TZLPGA) convened key stakeholders from the LPG sector to discuss the pivotal role of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in advancing clean energy initiatives.

Under the theme "Empowering Through Information: A Dialogue on Tanzania LPG Association Contributions to Clean Energy," the event sought to deepen media representatives' understanding of TZLPGA's core vision while shedding light on its significant contributions to sustainable development, clean energy efficiency, and socioeconomic progress through the adoption of LPG.

Established in 2023, TZLPGA comprises six prominent companies engaged in the trade of household gas cylinders, including CAMGAS, O-GAS, LAKE GAS, TAIFA GAS, ORYX GAS, MANJI GAS, and PUMA ENERGY.

Addressing attending journalists, the Director-General of TZLPGA, Amos Jackson, underscored the importance of accurate information dissemination within the sector. He emphasized, "We believe that the collection and dissemination of accurate information in this sector will help bring about significant changes in achieving our country’s goal of advancing the use of household gas cylinders. Your presence here will greatly help expand our understanding through your insights as key stakeholders in this sector."

Jackson outlined the association's strategies aimed at expanding household gas technology usage, emphasizing its role in reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting clean energy alternatives.

Benoit Araman, Chairman of TZLPGA, stressed the necessity of collaboration between sector stakeholders and the government. He highlighted, "It is our duty to support the government in ensuring that we bring about a revolution in this household gas sector to eliminate environmental damage caused by charcoal use."

Araman underscored the threat posed by charcoal, citing its contribution to carbon air pollutants that harm the environment and exacerbate negative climate change effects.

The event received the distinguished presence of Dr. James Andilile, Director-General of EWURA, who endorsed the launch of a campaign to disseminate accurate information on the safe use of LPG for the nation's economic benefit.

TZLPGA committed to collaborating with sector stakeholders to incentivize investors to allocate funds for promoting clean energy usage, thereby fostering positive impacts beneficial to the energy sector's development and the nation as a whole.

The dialogue marked a significant step toward advancing clean energy initiatives and fostering sustainable development in Tanzania.
