Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce Launches in Dallas

In a bid to bolster trade relations and capitalize on Tanzania's rich mineral resources, the Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce (TACC) opened its doors in North Dallas. Spearheaded by Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, the inauguration marks a significant step towards fostering economic ties between the United States and Tanzania.

President and CEO of TACC, Ben Kazora, emphasized the chamber's commitment to mobilizing US investments in Tanzania's critical minerals sector, particularly graphite and lithium, both integral components in the production of electric cars. Kazora highlighted Tanzania's vast potential in these minerals, citing its status as the world's second-largest lithium reserve holder and significant graphite deposits.

Moreover, TACC aims to promote bilateral trade and tourism between the two nations while advocating for conducive business policies in Tanzania. Kazora outlined plans to leverage initiatives like the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) to enhance Tanzanian exports to the US, emphasizing the importance of meeting American standards in goods and services.

Mayor Johnson underscored the pivotal role of Dallas in fostering global trade and commerce, particularly with Africa. He expressed his aspiration to position Dallas as an international business hub, welcoming foreign enterprises to invest in the city.

Jeanne Phillips, chair of the Mayor's International Advisory Council, highlighted the collaborative efforts to establish TACC, expressing optimism about future trade initiatives. She hinted at the possibility of more trade offices opening in the coming years, signaling a growing momentum in international business partnerships.

Ambassador Elsie Kanza from the Embassy of Tanzania in the United States commended Mayor Johnson for his visionary leadership in fostering bilateral relations. She expressed gratitude on behalf of the Tanzanian government for the invitation to participate in this transformative endeavor.

The launch of TACC signifies a significant milestone in US-Tanzania relations, promising increased economic cooperation and opportunities for mutual growth.
