TBS Grants 264 Quality Certificates and Licenses to Manufacturers

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has recently granted 264 certificates and licenses to manufacturers who have successfully met the required criteria for their goods. This commendable achievement, spanning from October of last year to May of this year, comprises 257 certificates of quality mark of standard and seven management system certifications. Dr. Athuman Ngenya, the Director General of TBS, expressed his appreciation to entrepreneurs for meeting these vital criteria, which enable them to access regional and global markets with confidence.

Dr. Ngenya emphasized that the awarded certificates and licenses signify that the products have met the necessary standards, urging the manufacturers to continue producing high-quality goods to gain further trust from buyers. By doing so, they ensure a reliable market and enhance their reputation. The TBS certificates and licenses cover various industries, including cosmetics, building materials, lubricants, electrical equipment, and packaging materials.

With these certifications in hand, manufacturers are now eligible to sell their products not only within the East African region but also in other markets without hesitation. The quality marks act as a testament to their commitment to excellence and pave the way for increased market reach and growth.

Dr. Ngenya also highlighted the government's unwavering support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). As part of this support, the government has undertaken the entire cost of product certification, enabling entrepreneurs to continue their growth trajectory and contribute to the overall economic development of the country. This gesture demonstrates the government's commitment to fostering a thriving business environment and encouraging the production of high-quality goods.

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has played a pivotal role in promoting quality and ensuring that manufacturers meet the required standards through the issuance of 264 certificates and licenses. By obtaining these quality marks, manufacturers gain access to regional and global markets, thereby expanding their business opportunities. The government's support in covering the costs of product certification further underscores its commitment to SMEs' development and economic growth.
