Tembo Nickel contributes Billion in Tanzania Shilling in Taxes and License fees

The mining company, Tembo Nickel, has made a significant contribution of over 6.7 billion Tanzanian shillings in taxes and license fees to the government in 2022. The company also spent 18.5 billion Tanzanian shillings on local content contributions, with 767 million Tanzanian shillings going towards Ngara District. During the handover of various health and education sector projects costing 208.1 million Tanzanian shillings, Tembo Nickel General Manager, Mr. Manny Ramos, stated that the company had employed 102 permanent staff, including 89 Tanzanians, and had given tenders to 54 suppliers from Ngara District Council. The projects, which included a maternity ward, 11 classrooms with 160 desks and chairs, and the training of 18 Health Community Workers, were carried out as part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects for 2022, in collaboration with the Ngara District Council. Dr Dotto Biteko, the Minerals Minister, recently visited the project site and praised Kabanga Nickel, the parent company of Tembo Nickel, for their implementation of the projects. He urged them to speed up the process of compensation payments for those affected by the project and warned against individuals who buy land from unsuspecting villagers at low prices and later claim compensation. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the project and will not allow such individuals to tarnish its image.
