TWCC and Trade Mark Africa Launch Youth Wing for Economic Empowerment in Tanzania

In a significant move toward fostering economic growth and empowering the youth, the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) has joined forces with Trade Mark Africa to introduce a dedicated youth wing. The launch event, held with enthusiasm and attended by approximately 300 women and 40 youth, took place in the presence of Ilala District Commissioner, Edward Mpologo, representing the Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Patrobas Katambi.

Commending TWCC for its forward-thinking approach, Mr. Mpogolo emphasized the importance of empowering the youth, stating, "This collaboration aims to empower young individuals by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support so that they can thrive in the world of business."

The youth wing initiative targets not only fostering entrepreneurship but also building a conducive environment for women and youth to succeed in the business landscape. With a population of 61 million in Tanzania, 34 million comprise the youth, making them a pivotal force for national development. Out of this demographic, 11 million are female youth, and 10 million are male youth.

Through an array of seminars, presentations by entrepreneurship trainers, and networking opportunities, the launch event sought to equip attendees with the skills and commitment required to achieve commercial and business goals. The TWCC Chairperson, Ms. Mercy Sila, stressed that the initiative goes beyond mere skill-building; it aims to create an inclusive and supportive ecosystem for women and youth entrepreneurs.

"By empowering women and youth, we are driving economic growth and nurturing innovation and sustainability," Ms. Sila remarked. The event provided a platform for women entrepreneurs to connect, share experiences, and explore collaboration opportunities. Attendees were encouraged to engage with like-minded individuals, gain valuable insights, and forge meaningful relationships within the business community.

The networking breakfast organized by TWCC, in partnership with Trade Mark Africa, served as the official unveiling of the youth wing. Ms. Sila urged the public to join them in celebrating the resilience, creativity, and potential of women and youth entrepreneurs in Tanzania.

The TWCC and Trade Mark Africa collaboration will continue to empower the youth through in-depth workshops, mentorship programs, and networking events, aiming to bridge the gap in youth employment and accelerate their participation in economic opportunities. Among the distinguished attendees were TWCC Executive Director, Mwajuma Hamza, Trade Mark Africa Programme Officer, Zuhura Mbaga, and numerous entrepreneurship supporters. The initiative marks a significant step forward in creating a thriving and inclusive business environment in Tanzania.
