Zanzibar Insurance Corporation, in partnership with Tigo Pesa, has introduced a groundbreaking service facilitating insurance customers' access through the Tigo Pesa USSD system or the Tigo Pesa App.
The unveiling ceremony occurred yesterday at the Golden Tulip Airport Hotel, graced by the presence of the Minister of State in the Office of the President for Finance and Planning SMZ, Honorable Dr. Saada Mkuya Salum.
In her address, Honorable Dr. Saada Mkuya Salum underscored the significance of the collaboration between ZIC and Tigo Pesa in advancing the financial sector. This initiative aligns with the government's eighth vision, emphasizing innovation in the financial domain to enhance inclusivity in financial services for citizens.
Mr. Arafat Ally Haji, ZIC’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the partnership with Tigo Pesa will foster innovation in insurance service delivery, thereby creating new opportunities for citizens.
He expressed gratitude to all parties involved in achieving this milestone, recognizing the dedication of executives from both entities in translating visions into reality.
Highlighting the benefits of the collaboration between Tigo Pesa and ZIC, Mr. Haji mentioned increased accessibility of insurance services, accelerated innovation in distribution, enhanced customer service, and the availability of accurate data for service enhancement research.
Furthermore, Ms. Angelica Pesha, CEO of Tigo Pesa, elaborated that the innovative service covers various types of private and commercial motor vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, tuk-tuks, buses, or any registered motor vehicle within Tanzania.
To access ZIC’s motor vehicle insurance service via Tigo Pesa, users can dial 15001# on their Tigo Pesa line, select option 7, then choose option 3 for insurance, followed by option 2 for motor vehicles. Subsequently, select ZIC and follow a few simple steps to complete registration and payment.
